The Roman Gladiotor Sword was the standard sword of Roman legionaries and became one of the most recognisable weapons of the Roman Empire. Roman soldiers adopted its early design from Iberian warriors during the Roman Republic.

The earliest major version, the Gladius Hispaniensis, had a longer blade and was effective for both cutting and thrusting. It was later replaced by the Mainz Gladius, which featured a slightly waisted blade and a long point designed to penetrate armour.

By the first century AD, the Pompeii Gladius became widely used. It had straight, parallel edges and a shorter triangular tip, making it lighter, faster, and easier to manufacture.

Roman soldiers carried the gladius alongside a large shield called the scutum. They used the shield for protection before delivering quick thrusts to exposed areas during close-range battle.

"Bought this as a gift and the recipient was absolutely blown away. The packaging alone felt like unboxing a museum piece. The certificate of authenticity is a wonderful touch."

"Gorgeous piece, exactly as pictured. Only minor note is the scabbard fit is slightly tight at first, but it loosens up with use. Overall extremely satisfied with my purchase."
