After defeating the Balrog and returning as Gandalf the White, Gandalf received a new white staff symbolising his greater power and authority. He used it to free King Théoden from Saruman’s influence and to confront the forces of Sauron.
Alongside the staff, Gandalf continued to wield Glamdring, also known as the Foe-Hammer. The sword was forged during the First Age for Turgon, King of Gondolin. Gandalf discovered it centuries later in a Troll hoard during the events of The Hobbit.
Glamdring glows blue when Orcs or Goblins are nearby. Together, the White Staff and Glamdring represent Gandalf’s magical strength, ancient wisdom, and role as one of Middle-earth’s greatest defenders.
