The true ancestral sword of House Stark was Ice, a massive Valyrian steel greatsword owned by the family for centuries and carried by Robb’s father, Ned Stark. After Ned’s execution, the Lannisters seized Ice and melted it down.
Tywin Lannister had the steel reforged into two smaller swords: Oathkeeper and Widow’s Wail, permanently ending Ice’s history as the greatsword of House Stark.
